The Department has had an agreement with the Department ofState Police, since 1987, to provide police patrols inconstruction work zones, upon request by the DistrictAdministrator.
We want to encourage the use of this resource in order toenhance the safety of the work zones.
The need for police patrols is to be determined at the fieldinspection stage of project design and shall be established inaccordance with the guidelines in Location & Design's,Instructional & Informational Memorandum for ConstructionZone Safety LD (D) 93.
The attached agreement and referenced policy memorandum can beused also as a guide for the Districts and Residencies in workingwith local police and sheriff's departments to obtain similartype police patrols.
Your attention to the need and use of police patrols inconstruction and maintenance zones is greatly appreciated.
