About this Bulletin

Hello VDOT Team:

I invite you to read a special edition of the Bulletin with a Special Report — about our future.

Where are we headed as an agency, and how will we change to meet the future? It’s not carved in concrete, but the vision for the future is shaping up under the direction of Commissioner Ekern.

Read some of the commissioner’s and other VDOT leaders’ views of how we will become a “world-class 21st century department.”  Featured are “Steps in the Journey,” as the commissioner calls them, toward being a transportation leader.

Also, VDOT staff comment on some big issues, including localization of road responsibilities, outsourcing, area headquarters consolidation and more.

One footnote on this edition: The Bulletin’s format has been modified to conform to the Virginia Information Technology Agency’s design and accessibility standards. For example, navigation on the left side of Bulletin pages is now the same as that at Virginiadot.org. Other features have also been modified to conform to the standard.

We have one new feature in this edition called “Career Moves.” Read it to see how and where your colleagues are serving throughout VDOT.

Happy reading,

chuck
