Two VDOTers placed among the top five competitors in the 2007 Ohio Invitational Roadeo truck competition May 15 in Toledo. E.   • Robert L. Clayton, 64, transportation engineer I, Location and Design Division, died Nov. 19; retired in 2004 with 43 years of service.

  • William C. Collins, 60, transportation operator II, Jonesville Residency, died May 14; he had 38 years of service.

  • Leo H. Crider, 88, highway equipment mechanic A, Chatham Residency, died April 13; retired in 1977 with 30 years of service.

  • Joyce A. Duvall, 62, audit services manager, External Audit Division, died March 4; she had 19 years of service.

  • Theodore G. “Teddy” Kennedy, 64, maintenance superintendent, Keene Area Headquarters, Charlottesville Residency, died April 5; retired in 1995 with 31 years of service.

  • Charles W. “Chuck” Payne, 63, transportation engineer, Virginia Transportation Research Council, died Jan. 24; retired in 2001 with 40 years of service.

  • Curtis E. Pfeiffer Jr., 84, engineer, Suffolk and Staunton districts, died March 28; retired in 1983 with 41 years of service.

  • William Lee Roach, 68, transportation operator 2, Chesterfield Residency, died March 21; retired in 2003 with 48 years of service.

  • Lacy C. Taylor, 82, highway equipment operator A, Dillwyn Residency, died April 4; retired in 1986 with 17 years of service.

  • Joseph B. Thrift Jr., 63, maintenance superintendent, Northern Neck Residency, died Oct. 25, 2006; retired in 1997 with 32 years of service.

  • Daniel T. Waller Jr., 85, highway equipment operator B, Chatham Residency, died May 27; retired in 1985 with 39 years of service.

  • John E. Wells, 52, archaeologist, Richmond District, died May 13; he had 22 years of service.

  • Robert Whorley, 66, highway equipment operator B, Dillwyn Residency, died April 2; retired in 1994 with 26 years of service.   

  • Percy Wilborn, 59, transportation engineer I, Location and Design Division, died Oct. 23, 2006; retired in 2004 with 40 years of service.
