The Culpeper District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) encompasses the counties of the upper Piedmont, including:

• Culpeper
• Fauquier
• Fluvanna
• Greene
• Louisa
• Madison
• Orange
• Rappahannock

The district includes the city of Charlottesville.

There are 70 miles of interstate highways, 730 miles of primary roads and 4,104 miles of secondary roads in the district.
