Access Road - Environmental Checklist
This list does not contain all of the many tasks that may be associated with obtaining environmental clearances for Access road projects, but it can serve as a general guide.
- After receiving
notification your Access road application was approved by VDOT, set up project
“Kick off” meeting with the VDOT Project Coordinator and
VDOT District Environmental Manager. Discuss scope of project and receive
information on environmental requirements.
- Do not start any
ground disturbing activities for the Access road until all environmental
compliance is complete.
- Complete the
Project Early Notification form. This provides detailed information to VDOT about the scope of the
project and it’s location. Forward to VDOT Project Coordinator, with a copy to
VDOT District Environmental Manager.
- Contact and
coordinate project with
appropriate state/federal agencies.
- Obtain “capstone
letters” and/or necessary permits for Access road project from state/federal
agencies.
- Complete
Hazardous Materials and
Water Quality Due Diligence forms.
- Forward all
agency coordination letters (“capstone letters”), permits, and Due Diligence
forms to the VDOT Project Coordinator, with a copy to the
VDOT District Environmental Manager.
- Implement any environmental commitments from the SERP PEI, agency coordination or permits.
