| DIRECTED TO - DISTRICT ADMINISTRATORS | |
| It has come to my attention that on several contracts, a larger than necessary field office was specified for the size and scope of the project. This may be attributed to the change in Specifications for field offices type I, II, and III dated 7-19-93c (see below). | ||
| FIELD OFFICE | 91 SPEC.
BOOK (PREVIOUS) |
SPEC.PROV.SECTION 514 (NEW) |
| Type I | 400 sq.ft. | 500 sq.ft. |
| Type II | 200 sq.ft. | 400 sq.ft. |
| Type III | 120 sq.ft. | 200 sq.ft. |
| You will note that under the new provision, you get the same square footage by specifying a type II or III field office as you did in previously specifying a type I or II respectively. I would appreciate your assistance in assuring that appropriately sized field offices are specified on your construction and maintenance projects by giving consideration to both the scope and anticipated time limit for the project. In many cases small, no plan, minimum plan, and maintenance projects will not require a field office thus reducing your engineering overhead. | ||
| Thank you for your usual attention. | ||
