PUBLIC HEARINGS TO BE HELD APRIL 19 ON VIRGINIA’S TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
Working draft of updated six-year program to be posted online April 1

Working Draft of Six-Year Improvement Program FY 2006-2011

RICHMOND – The public is invited to comment on essential transportation projects in their region during public hearings to be held by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) on April 19, 2005 beginning at 5 p.m. Hearings will be held via videoconference across the state on the working draft of the Six-Year Improvement Program for Fiscal Years 2006-2011.

The six-year program allocates funding for rail, public transit, bicycle, pedestrian and primary and interstate highway improvement projects over a six-year period. The current program, approved last June, is available online at www.VDOT.Virginia.gov. The working draft of the updated program will be posted on VDOT’s Web site April 1.

The CTB held public hearings last fall on transportation priorities. Those comments helped the CTB to develop a working draft for the updated program. The CTB will take public comments on the working draft into consideration as they approve the final version of the updated six-year program in May. The six-year program for the next fiscal year will go into effect July 1, 2005.
