STATEWIDE PUBLIC MEETINGS TO BE HELD ON VIRGINIA’S TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
RICHMOND – The public is invited to comment on transportation improvements that will address critical needs in their regions. The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will hold nine meetings across the state from late September to mid-November, beginning with the Bristol region meeting starting at 4 p.m. on September 26.
CTB members will take the public comments into consideration as they update the Six-Year Improvement Program for next year. The program allocates funding for rail, public transportation and commuter assistance programs and primary and interstate highway improvement projects over six years. The board adopted the current six-year program in June.

All meetings will be conducted in the following way:
4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Open house session – Regional CTB members and representatives from the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and Metropolitan Planning Organizations will be available to answer questions about transportation planning, projects and programs. Citizens can submit comments during this time.
6 p.m. – Public discussion starts – Comments may be submitted during this time as well.
During the public discussion period, each individual will be allowed to speak for three minutes. Groups will be asked to designate one person to speak on their behalf.
For individuals who cannot attend the meeting, they can send their comments on rail and public transportation to Public Information Officer, Va. Dept. of Rail and Public Transportation, 1313 E.
