VDOT DELIVERS MORE PROJECTS ON TIME AND ON BUDGET
Latest quarterly report card released
RICHMOND, April 24, 2006 – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) delivered 83 percent of its construction contracts on time and 88 percent within budget through the first three quarters of fiscal year 2006 (July 1, 2005 – March 31, 2006). The performance shows improvement compared to last year’s numbers.
“This is VDOT’s strongest performance with delivering more construction projects on time and within budget since we issued our first quarterly report three years ago,” said VDOT Acting Commissioner Gregory A. Whirley. “Strong project delivery is just one component of our business plan for ongoing improvements. We will continue to increase our efficiencies by partnering with the private sector where it makes good business sense, applying research and innovation to save costs, raising the bar on personal accountability in all of our core functions and working with localities that are interested in taking over their urban and maintenance programs.”
