E-ZPASS NIGHT AT THE RICHMOND BRAVES GAME MAY 25 VDOT will give transponders with $10 in free tolls to first 200 applicants
VDOT will give transponders with $10 in free tolls to first 200 applicants
RICHMOND – Get two-for-one general admission tickets to the Richmond Braves game on Friday, May 25, simply by showing your E-ZPass transponder at the ticket window or bringing in your last statement.
You can also order tickets online at ticketmaster.com.
E-ZPass is sponsoring the Richmond Braves versus the Norfolk Tides game at 7 p.m. on May 25 to draw attention to Virginia’s electronic tolling program.
Ticket holders can apply for an E-ZPass at the game, and the first 200 applicants who complete the application and sign up for automatic replenishment with a bank card will receive a working transponder with $10 of free tolls.
“We want to provide instant gratification for people who take the time to complete an application at the game,” said Deborah Brown, VDOT’s innovative finance and revenue operations division administrator. “They can use E-ZPass lanes immediately and enjoy a faster trip home from the game that night.”
E-ZPass is an electronic toll collection system designed to move traffic through toll facilities in Virginia and along much of the East Coast.
Motorists with an E-ZPass transponder mounted on the inside of the windshield or on the license plate can travel through clearly marked E-ZPass toll lanes, and the toll is automatically deducted from a pre-paid account.
In Virginia, the E-ZPass system has also been known as Smart Tag.
The first 2,500 fans will receive a hand-held lighted fan courtesy of E-ZPass.
In addition to the E-ZPass promotion, May 25 is also Military Appreciation Night.
In honor of military service members, VDOT intern retired U.S. Army Maj. Joseph Shaw will throw out the first pitch. Shaw, a decorated soldier, served two tours in Iraq, and was hired in April as a recruiter for VDOT’s Wounded Veteran Internship Program.
