RICHMOND – The recommended FY08-13 Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP) that details anticipated allocations to highway, public transit, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian projects and programs over the next six fiscal years is available online at VirginiaDOT.org and DRPT.Virginia.gov.

The recommended FY08-13 SYIP will be presented to the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) during its workshop on Wednesday, June 20. The workshop will start at 2 p.m. in the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT’s) auditorium at 1221 East Broad Street in Richmond.

The CTB will vote on approving the allocations during its action meeting on Thursday, June 21, in the same location. The meeting will start at 9 a.m. or at the conclusion of the workshop if the workshop is continued on Thursday morning.

Citizens and officials have commented on the program at different stages. Nine public hearings were held in the fall of 2006 as the new program was being developed; five more were held this spring on a working draft of the program. There is a public comment opportunity at the beginning of the June 21 CTB meeting, as with all CTB meetings.

The approved program will take effect July 1, 2007.
