Open forum public hearing scheduled for Route 658 - Scratch Gravel Road in Smyth County
Tuesday July 22 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The public hearing will be held Tuesday, July 22 between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Marion Senior High School Cafeteria, 848 Stage Street in Marion.
The purpose of
this meeting is to give citizens an opportunity to review and discuss plans to
straighten and widen Route 658 – Scratch Gravel Road beginning about a mile
south of the Marion South Corporate Limits and ending at the Marion South
VDOT encourages all interested citizens to attend the public hearing. To give citizens more flexibility in their participation, there will be no formal presentation. Instead, citizens will be able to review maps, drawings and other materials explaining the proposed project and discuss the plans with VDOT representatives at their convenience anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Also, citizens will have an opportunity to record verbal comments for the official record anytime during the meeting. Written comments will be accepted during the meeting or may be submitted to VDOT within 10 days following the meeting.
Maps and other materials pertaining to the project are available for review at the VDOT Abingdon Residency office located at 700 East Main Street in Abingdon, and at the VDOT Bristol District Office, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia.

The public hearing is not a forum to discuss land development or any proposed commercial development issues, as those are local government issues.
