Route 610 bridge in Wythe County closing Sunday (October 26)
Recent inspection finds advance deterioration
Barricades will be placed at the bridge Sunday morning (October 26) and detour route signs will be posted early in the week. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has plans in place to advertise the bridge for replacement in spring 2009, with construction scheduled to begin in summer 2009.
Because of the advance deterioration, the bridge will remain closed until a new bridge can be constructed. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes.
