Two highway contracts approved for Buchanan County projects
RICHMOND, Va. – Two highway contracts valued at approximately $1 million were recently awarded in the Bristol District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson and Wythe.
An $897,190 contract was awarded to Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap to repair the Route 680 bridge over Dismal Creek in Buchanan County.
Mac Construction, Inc., Oakwood, received a $176,879 contract to pave and make improvements to Routes 709 and 706 in Buchanan County. The Route 709 improvements will begin at Route 653 and extend eastward .35-mile. The Route 706 improvements will begin at Route 652 and extend northward .65-mile. (END)
