Location public hearing scheduled for Route 460 Connector Phase II
Tuesday, July 14 from 4-7 p.m. at Breaks Interstate Park

BUCHANAN COUNTY, Va. - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a location public hearing in July regarding the proposed Route 460 Connector Phase II in Buchanan County.  The public hearing will be held Tuesday, July 14 from 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Breaks Interstate Park Conference Center.

The purpose of the hearing is to give citizens an opportunity to review and discuss preliminary plans for the proposed Route 460 Connector Phase II, which connects to Phase I of the Route 460 Connector near the Virginia/Kentucky State line and extends to its proposed connection to the Hawk’s Nest interchange of the Coalfields Expressway.

VDOT encourages all interested citizens to attend the public hearing. To give citizens more flexibility in their participation in the hearing, there will be no formal presentation.  Instead, citizens will be able to review maps, drawings and other materials explaining the proposed project and discuss the plans, tentative construction schedules, property impacts and relocation assistance with VDOT representatives at their convenience anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Also, citizens will have an opportunity to record verbal comments for the official record anytime during the hearing.  Written comments will be accepted during the hearing or may be submitted to VDOT by July 24, 2008.

Maps and other materials pertaining to the project are available for review at the VDOT Lebanon Residency Office, located on Route 71 in Lebanon. The materials are also available at the VDOT Bristol District Office, 870 Bonham Road, Bristol, Virginia.

For additional information, or if you require special assistance to participate in the meeting, please call the VDOT Lebanon Residency Office at (276) 889-7600 or device for hearing impaired (TTY) at 711.       (END)
