Transportation Board approves contracts valued at $3.4 million
RICHMOND – Four highway contracts valued at approximately $3.4 million were recently awarded in the Bristol District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson, and Wythe.
A $1.3 million asphalt overlay contract for various routes in the 12-county Bristol District was awarded to Marvin V. Templeton & Sons, Inc., Lynchburg.
Three bridge repair projects were also awarded:
- D.A. Brown, Inc., Vinton, received a $911,141 contract to replace portions of the Route 610 bridge located over Interstate 77 in Wythe County. Motorists may experience delays on I-77 while this project is underway.
- Patrick Construction, Inc., St. Paul, received an $870,493 contract to replace a portion of the Route 665 bridge over Wolf Creek in Bland County.
- Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, received a $295,189 contract to replace the Route 616 bridge over Gaspard Creek in Washington County with a concrete slab.
