10 a.m. February 9 Travel Advisory: Slick spots reported in areas of southwest Virginia

BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) road crews are out this morning working to improve road conditions following morning snow.  With the possibility of snow in the forecast most of the day, motorists should be alert to rapidly changing conditions.

Following are roadway conditions as of 10 a.m.:

  • Interstates 81 and 77 are currently clear but wet.

  • Most primary highways in southwest Virginia have scattered snow and ice patches, while most secondary routes – those routes numbered 600+ - are snow-covered.

For safe driving tips and other snow-related information, visit VDOT’s website: http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/snow.asp.  For statewide road conditions, visit www.511Virginia.org.
