All Central Virginia Roads Now Open

CULPEPER – All secondary roads closed by the flooding from Friday’s heavy rains have reopened. In Central Virginia no major roadway damage was reported from the storm or the high water.

Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation are checking the roads that were flooded for surface and shoulder damage or erosion caused by the water. The crews are also cleaning out clogged culvert pipes and opening roadside ditches.

Motorists can receive real-time information on incidents and road conditions throughout the state by dialing 511 from any telephone within Virginia. In areas where 511 is not available, dial 1-800-578-4111. (TTY users, call 711). Traffic alerts and traveler information also are available at 511Virginia.org. Road condition information can also be obtained by calling the Highway Helpline at 1-800-367-ROAD (TTY users, call 1-800-432-1843).
