Culpeper's Diversity Fair Seeks to Expand Opportunities for Small Firms
CULPEPER – The Virginia Department of Transportation is a leader in the state’s efforts to diversify its work force and provide contracting opportunities for small businesses, particularly those owned by women and members of the minority community.
Opportunities for minority business owners as well as minority job applicants will be the focus of a Diversity Fair organized by the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Culpeper District next month. Businesses within the district’s nine Piedmont Virginia counties, from Fauquier south to Albemarle and the city of Charlottesville, are invited to attend.
The fair will include representatives from Virginia’s Department of Minority Business Enterprise, the Department of Business Assistance, the Small Business Development Center as well as human resources and contracting staff from VDOT’s Richmond and Culpeper offices. Spanish-speaking translators will be available and some of the informational materials will also be available in Spanish translation for business owners and job applicants whose English skills may be limited.
The Diversity Fair will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 at the Culpeper District Headquarters, 1601 Orange Road in Culpeper.
