ROUTE 621 TO CLOSE AT THE THORNTON RIVER
Bridge replacement operations will take two months
CULPEPER – Beginning Monday, February 26, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 621 (Rudasill Mill Road) in Rappahannock County to through traffic between Route 522 and Route 620 to replace the bridge over the Thornton River.
The road, which will remain accessible to local residents on both sides of the bridge, will reopen in approximately 60 days.
General Excavation Inc. of Warrenton was awarded the $374,785 contract to remove the existing wood deck bridge built in 1971 and replace it with a concrete beam deck overlaid with asphalt.
Signs will be placed advising motorists of the road closure and directing them to use Routes 522, 211 and 622 as alternate routes.
