SPEED LIMIT REDUCED ON ROUTE 230 IN STANARDSVILLE
Safety concerns lead to 25 mph limit

CULPEPER – Beginning on Wednesday, June 4, the speed limit on Route 230 in Greene County will be lowered to 25 miles per hour from the intersection with Route 33 business in the town of Stanardsville north to the town limits.

This reduction from the current 35 miles per hour speed limit was requested by town officials and approved by the Virginia Department of Transportation due to the increased number of entrances and driveways along this residential/commercial thoroughfare within the town limits.

Signs have been placed advising motorists of the new speed limit.

Highway safety is everyone’s responsibility. Virginia’s highway safety partnership — the Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and Virginia State Police — challenges you to help prevent highway fatalities.

            Buckle up.
            Avoid distractions.
            Share the road.
            Drive drug- and alcohol-free.
            Obey speed limits.
