CAUTION URGED ON I-66 WEST NEAR DELAPLANE
Motorists should expect congestion, uneven pavement during afternoon rush hour

CULPEPER — Motorists traveling west on Interstate 66 this afternoon through western Fauquier County should expect congestion and remain alert to uneven pavement conditions. A contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation that is paving I-66 will suspend operations during the afternoon commute but because only one lane has been paved there is a drop off of several inches between the two travel lanes.

The paving is being done west of the Delaplane exit (milepost 23); drivers will encounter approximately 1,000 feet of uneven pavement between mileposts 23 and 22. Motorists should reduce speed, remain alert and stay in their lane as they travel through the work zone. Portable message boards will alert drivers as they approach the paving work and Virginia State Police troopers will also be in the area.

The paving operation will resume at approximately 7 p.m. tonight and continue through the evening. Motorists should continue to use caution, reduce speed and be alert for workers and equipment. For real-time traffic and weather conditions call 511 from any telephone in Virginia. Before you travel check traffic and weather by visiting www.511Virginia.org.
