ROUTE 29 CORRIDOR LEADERSHIP FORUM CANCELLED
Meeting of transportation leaders, elected officials will be rescheduled
CULPEPER — The Route 29 Corridor Leadership Forum, scheduled for June 30 at the Nelson County High School in Lovingston, has been cancelled. The forum will be rescheduled in the near future in order to encourage better attendance.
The leadership forum was planned to bring together transportation officials, state legislators and local officials for a briefing on the information gathered to date from the public meetings that have been held in conjunction with the Route 29 Corridor Blueprint.
That joint study, by the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation, is an effort to forge recommendations for specific projects to provide multi-modal transportation improvements as well as a comprehensive, long-range vision for the future of the Route 29 corridor from the North Carolina state line to Interstate 66 in Gainesville.
The Blueprint study team is continuing its work, including meetings with the governing bodies of the localities along the length of the corridor. The team will also continue its work through the summer to develop blueprint recommendations for presentation at another series of public meetings in the fall. The study is due for completion in late 2009.
