Culvert pipes replaced, work completed one day ahead of schedule

CULPEPER — Route 729 (Milton Road) has reopened to through traffic between Route 53 and Route 250 in Albemarle County. The road was closed Tuesday morning to replace two large pipes that carry a small stream under the road. The work was expected to take four days with the road reopening on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 21. The two 60-inch corrugated steel pipes were inspected on Tuesday, Aug. 11 and found to be severely deteriorated and in need of immediate replacement.
