ONE LANE CLOSED MONDAY ON I-64 WEST AT MILEPOST 121
Bridge deck work will continue through Thursday; all lanes open 7-9 a.m. daily

CULPEPER — Traffic on Interstate 64 westbound will be restricted to one lane at the bridge over Route 20 at milepost 121 near Charlottesville on Monday, Nov. 8. A contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation will mill the concrete surface of the bridge deck and install seals on the bridge joints at each end of the deck.

The contractor will begin working after 9 a.m. on Monday and will continue until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Both lanes will be opened to traffic between 7 and 9 a.m. to accommodate morning traffic. The extended work hours are necessary to complete the milling, install the bridge joint seals and apply pavement markings.

On Wednesday and Thursday the contractor will follow the same work schedule. The work will be completed by 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12.

Beginning on Monday morning motorists should anticipate one westbound lane to be closed at Exit 121 (Route 20). Once work in that lane is completed the lane closure will be moved to the other lane.  Motorists should follow the work zone signs and anticipate delays, particularly during high volume periods.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel Web site, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including I-64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state.
