ROUTE 627 IN ALBEMARLE WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL MAY 20
Site conditions have slowed pipe replacement; access maintained for local traffic

CULPEPER — Route 627 (Carters Mountain Road) in Albemarle County will remain closed to through traffic until approximately May 20. The replacement of a pipe that carries water under the road was scheduled for completion by April 28 but site conditions have slowed the replacement project. The road was closed to through traffic on March 31.

The damaged pipe, which is located 1.74 miles from Route 795 (James Monroe Parkway) and 0.16 miles from Route 727 (Blenheim Road), is being replaced with a new concrete box culvert. Detour signs are posted to guide traffic around the closure; the detour is Route 795 (Rolling Road) to Route 795 (Presidents Road) to Route 727 (Blenheim Road). Local traffic will still be able to use Route 627 on both sides of the work zone.

Current road conditions, closures and weather information are available for all roads in Virginia at VDOT’s traffic information website, www.511Virginia.org. Motorists can also get current traffic information by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
