TRAFFIC SHIFTED TO NEW ALIGNMENT ON EAST RIO RAILROAD BRIDGE
Motorists may experience brief delays, one-lane traffic during Monday night operation
CULPEPER — Traffic will be shifted onto the new bridge on East Rio Road that crosses the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks on Monday, June 28. The shift will begin after 7:30 p.m. and be completed before 5:30 Tuesday morning. The work is part of the ongoing project to construct the connection to the northern end of the Meadowcreek Parkway.
Motorists will encounter brief delays during the work, which will include placing pavement markings on the new roadway. Traffic will be limited to one lane and will be controlled by flaggers while lane shift is done.
After traffic is shifted onto the new bridge the old bridge will be removed and the second half of the new bridge built at that location. Once completed the bridge will extend the four-lane alignment of East Rio Road east across the railroad bridge, where it will tie into the new alignment of East Rio Road and the Meadowcreek Parkway. That work is scheduled later in the project.
