ROUTE 607 IN ORANGE CLOSED DUE TO VEHICLE ACCIDENT
Telephone lines down across road; motorists advised to use alternate route

CULPEPER — Route 607 (Carpenters Mill Road/Matthew Mill Road) in Orange County has been closed to through traffic due to a single-vehicle accident. The road is a popular cut-through for commuters between Routes 29 and 33.

At 2 p.m. today, a vehicle struck a telephone pole at the intersection of Routes 607 and 670 (Ridgeway Drive), bringing down the pole and telephone lines across the intersection. Virginia State Police are on the scene and have closed both roads until the pole can be repaired and the roadways cleared. The closure could last up to four hours.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.
