WORK HOURS EXTENDED NEXT WEEK FOR BRIDGE WORK ON RT. 3
Around-the-clock work to occur Wed.-Fri. to apply latex sealant

CULPEPER — Next week, extended working hours will go into effect on the Route 3 bridges at the Culpeper/Orange county line, near Germanna Community College-Locust Grove Campus.

Crews from McClain & Co., a contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), will follow the following schedule:

Mon., May 30:
No work in observance of Memorial Day.

Tues., May 31:
Noon to one hour before sunset.

Wed., June 1 - Fri., June 3:
Work around the clock, starting one hour after sunrise Wed. through one hour before sunset Fri.

Sat., June 4:
If needed, one hour after sunrise to one hour before sunset.

During working hours, one lane will be closed on each bridge. Motorists should follow the work zone signs and anticipate delays, particularly during high-volume periods.

The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the bridge decks to extend their life. This involves patching deteriorated areas, overlaying the bridge deck with a latex sealant, and replacing the bridge joints. The project is expected to be completed by mid-June, weather permitting.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel Web site, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state.
