MUTTON HOLLOW RD. IN STANARDSVILLE TO CLOSE JULY 16
Installation of box culvert at Swift Run to be completed October 15
CULPEPER — On July 16, the Virginia Department of Transportation and Plecker Construction Co. of Staunton will begin work to replace the Route 634 (Mutton Hollow Road) low-water crossing at Swift Run in Greene County. The bridge is located just north of the Mt. Herman Mennonite Church and the intersection of Route 635 (Matties Run Road).
The project involves removing the existing concrete structure and replacing it with a precast box culvert, as well as making improvements to the approaches on both ends of the crossing. The improvements will address the issue of frequent flooding on Route 634 that cuts off access to the residential properties in the area.
During construction, Route 634 will be closed at Swift Run and detour signs will be posted. Northbound motorists will be detoured from Route 634 onto eastbound Route 810 (Dyke Road), then north on Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) and back to Route 634. Southbound motorists will reverse the detour.
Plecker Construction Co., with a low bid of $244,922.63, was awarded the construction contract for this project in March. The contract has a completion date of October 15.
