RT. 670 IN MADISON COUNTY TO CLOSE NOV. 26-30
VDOT to stabilize eroded bank of Robinson River in Criglersville

CULPEPER — On Nov. 26 the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 670 (Old Blue Ridge Turnpike) from Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) to Route 642 (Poor House Road/Lindsay Lane) in Madison County.

The road will be closed through Nov. 30 while VDOT crews work to stabilize 385 feet of eroded riverbank on the Robinson River, which runs alongside Route 670 in Criglersville.

During the closure, the posted detour will direct westbound motorists from Route 231 to Route 642 (Poor House Road) and back to Route 670. Eastbound motorists will reverse the detour.

Message boards will be placed to notify motorists of the closure.

Real-time road conditions and weather forecasts are available on VDOT’s traffic and travel website, www.511Virginia.org. The site also has live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia. Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 800-367-7623 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
