McCORMICK RD. BRIDGE PROJECT TO CLOSE EMMET ST.
Two-night closure will occur June 17 and 18 for setting of bridge beams

CULPEPER — Route 29 Business (Emmet Street) will be closed overnight on June 17 and 18 as work continues on the McCormick Road bridge project at the University of Virginia.

The closure, occurring each night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., will allow the Virginia Department of Transportation and contractor Corman Construction Inc. to install the new bridge’s beams.

The McCormick Road bridge project began on May 20 and will finish in late July. The project involves replacing the superstructure of the aged bridge, which had been posted with an eight-ton weight limit.

More information about the project can be found on VDOT’s website at www.virginiadot.org/projects/culpeper/mccormickrdbridge.asp.
