RT. 20 CLOSED SOUTH OF CHARLOTTESVILLE
Crash investigation continues, detour established for traffic

CULPEPER –  Route 20 (Scottsville Road) in Albemarle County is closed just north of Route 708 (Red Hill Road) due to a traffic crash. Emergency services are still on the scene investigating the crash.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is on the scene assisting with traffic control. A detour has been established to route traffic around the crash. Southbound traffic on Route 20 (Avon Street Extended) will be detoured onto Interstate 64 west at exit 121. Traffic will get off I-64 at exit 120 (Fifth Street Extended) and then to Route 708 (Red Hill Road) and back onto Route 20. Northbound traffic will reverse the detour.

For the latest updates to the Route 20 closure check VDOT’s traffic and travel Web site, www.511Virginia.org. The site has real-time road conditions and weather forecasts as well as live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Route 29, Interstate 64, I-66 and Route 250 in Central Virginia.

Motorists can call 511 from any telephone in Virginia for road and traffic conditions on all major highways in the state. Call 800-367-ROAD (367-7623) 24 hours a day to report highway-related problems or request information about Virginia’s highways.
