PORTION OF SILLAMON RD. CLOSED AUG. 17-OCT. 1
Crews will replace bridge superstructure in Fauquier Co.; motorists detoured on Rt. 617
CULPEPER — A short segment of Route 752 (Sillamon Road) will be closed for six weeks beginning Monday, Aug. 17 in order to replace the bridge over Deep Run. The road will be closed at the bridge, approximately one mile east of Route 617 (Blackwells Mill Road) near Goldvein in Fauquier County. Weather permitting, the bridge is expected to reopen to traffic on Oct. 1.
Local traffic will be able to use Route 752 on both sides of the bridge and all private entrances will remain open during the work. Through traffic will be detoured via Route 617.
The project involves replacing the existing timber-deck bridge with a pre-stressed concrete slab structure and asphalt overlay. The bridge was built in 1977 and is currently posted with a 12-ton weight limit. After the work is complete, the bridge will be capable of carrying all legal loads. On average, 190 vehicles use this route daily.
