PUBLIC INVITED TO INFORMATION MEETING ON RT. 3 PROJECT
Utility relocations begin in late April; roadway construction anticipated in early May
CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation and its design-build partner Branch Highways Inc. will host an informational meeting on the Route 3 widening project in Culpeper County, set to go under construction later this spring.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. Monday, April 13 at the VDOT Culpeper District office, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper.
A short presentation will be given at 5:15 p.m. to describe the construction schedule, traffic impacts and other details. Following will be an open house, during which the public can speak with representatives of Branch and the project’s designer, JMT. VDOT officials also will be available to answer questions.
The $23.6 million project will widen the two-lane section of Route 3 from Stevensburg to Lignum, completing the last remaining portion of four-lane highway between Culpeper and Fredericksburg. Construction plans include adding a new two-lane road alongside the existing roadway and rehabilitating the current two lanes of Route 3. The project’s completion date is May 4, 2017.
