RT. 245 WILL REOPEN TO TRAFFIC LATE TOMORROW
Road closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Broad Run bridge for removal of barrier wall
CULPEPER — With substantial work complete at the Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) bridge over Broad Run near The Plains, the Virginia Department of Transportation plans to reopen the full roadway to traffic on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 28.
Motorists should expect a full road closure tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while the barrier walls down the center of the bridge are removed. Once this work is complete, traffic will use both lanes and the temporary signals currently controlling traffic across the one-lane bridge will be deactivated.
During the closure, northbound motorists will be directed to Route 17 Business (Winchester Road) to Route 55 and back to Route 245. Southbound traffic will reverse the detour. From Interstate 66, motorists should take exit 28 at Marshall and follow the detour signs.
One lane on Route 245 has been closed at the bridge since October 2016 for replacement of the bridge’s deck and repairs to its abutments.
Through the project’s completion date of April 28, motorists should expect intermittent flagging while VDOT contractor McClain & Company, Inc. of Culpeper finalizes their work. Expect minor delays.
