HANEYTOWN CREEK BRIDGE REPLACEMENT TO BEGIN SOON
VDOT will replace the washed out bridge on Haneytown Road in Greene County

CULPEPER — A contractor with the Virginia Department of Transportation will mobilize soon to replace the bridge over Haneytown Creek on Route 631 (Haneytown Road) in Greene County. The bridge washed out during the torrential rain in late May.

The bridge, located about 0.4-mile west of Route 810 (Dyke Road), had been scheduled for replacement in 2023 but VDOT bridge engineers accelerated the project when the bridge washed out.

Construction is anticipated to begin within the next several days and be complete by mid-February 2019. The new bridge will be constructed with a concrete deck and will be open to all legal weight vehicles.

The road will remain closed until the bridge is completed. Motorists should continue using alternate routes.
