RT. 603 IN ALBEMARLE REOPENS TO TRAFFIC
Bridge is now open to all legal loads following completion of repair project
CULPEPER — The Route 603 (Plunkett Road) bridge over the Lynch River in Albemarle County reopened to traffic this afternoon. The structure can now handle all legal weight loads.
The bridge was closed to traffic in November after a regular inspection revealed deterioration to the bridge’s structural features. The Virginia Department of Transportation’s bridge specialty crew undertook rehabilitation of the structure and completed that work today. Prior to the closure the bridge was posted for a nine-ton weight limit; that weight limit is now removed.
