Bragg Road Project Moves Ahead
(Traffic to be shifted to new lanes next week)

FREDERICKSBURG—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has reached a milestone on the Bragg Road (Route 639) widening project in Spotsylvania County. On Wednesday, Oct. 14, all traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed lanes on Bragg Road.

Beginning at 9 a.m., flaggers and signs will direct motorists to the new lanes between Route 3 and the entrance to Central Park.  Traffic at the Route 3 and Bragg Road intersection will be stopped periodically between 9 a.m. and noon, while crews remove the old signals and activate the new ones located on the mast arm structure. Virginia State Police will maintain traffic during the transition.  Motorists are reminded that the right turn in and out only pattern at the entrance to Giant will remain in effect.

The $6.4 million project to widen Bragg Road from two to four lanes began last November and is on schedule to be complete by summer 2011.
