Fredericksburg Weekly Traffic Alerts
October 11 – October 17, 2009
Sunday – Thursday, 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; crews will be installing continuous traffic counters on I-95 south just south of just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville). Two lanes will be closed in the work zone.
Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews working on the shoulder of I-95 south just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville). Crews will be installing continuous traffic counters. No travel lanes will be closed.
Tuesday - Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews inspecting the bridge on the Rappahannock River bridge located between Exit 133 (Rt. 17/Falmouth) and Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg). No travel lanes will be closed.
I-95/Rt. 3 Ramps Closures
Sunday – Thursday, 7:30 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; Crews will be milling and paving the interstate on and off ramps at the Route 3 interchange. The following ramps will be closed:\
Sunday - the ramp from Rt. 3 west to I-95 south
Monday – ramp from I-95 south to Rt. 3 east
Tuesday – ramp from Rt. 3 east to I-95 south
Wednesday – ramp from I-95 south to Rt. 3 west
Motorists should take Rt.1 south to Massaponax interchange to access I-95 south
I-95 Ramp at Exit 140
Thursday, 7:30 p.m. – 4:30 a.m., the ramp from Rt. 630 to I-95 south will be closed. Crews will be milling and paving. Motorists should use the Centreport Pkwy. Interchange to access the interstate.
Route 676 (Crane’s Corner Road)
Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.; crews will be removing trees along the shoulder on Rt. 676 just east of Rt. 1. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
Monday – Wednesday, daylight to dusk, motorists will be restricted to two lanes on I-95 south just south of Exit 126 (Rt. 1/ Spotsylvania while crews continue construction of the new Rt. 17 bridge over I-95. There will be no lane closures between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day.
Route 639 (Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue) -Ongoing Construction Project
On Wednesday at 9 a.m. all traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed lanes on Bragg Rd. between Route 3 and the entrance to Central Park. Flaggers and signs will direct motorists to the new lanes. Motorists are reminded that the right turn in and out only pattern at the entrance to Giant will remain in effect.
Route 3/ Bragg Road Intersection
Wednesday 9 a.m. – noon; crews will remove the old signals and activate the new ones located on the mast arm structure at the Rt. 3/Bragg Road intersection. Traffic at the intersection will be stopped periodically during the transition. Virginia State Police will maintain traffic at the intersection.
Spotsylvania Towne Centre Entrance
Motorists are reminded to be alert to changes in the traffic pattern on Route 3 eastbound between Bragg Road and the entrance to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. The continuous right turn lane on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre entrance may be periodically closed to through traffic as well as the right merge lane exiting the towne centre to Rt. 3 east. To avoid delays Towne Centre patrons should use the entrance located on Bragg Road Extended. Access to businesses located on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre will be maintained at all times.
Route 648 (Block House Road)
Tuesday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.; crews will be removing trees along the shoulder on Rt. 648. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

Route 1 bridge over Route 3 (William Street)
Motorists are reminded that one lane on both north and southbound Rt. 1 at the bridge over Rt. 3 is closed to traffic for bridge rehabilitation. The speed limit in the work zone is 25 miles per hour.
Route 3 (William Street)
Motorists are reminded that one lane on Rt. 3 west at the Rt. 1 bridge over Rt. 3 is closed to traffic in connection with the Rt. 1/Rt.3 Bridge Renovation Project.
