Motorists Alert

Monday – Tuesday; crews will be patching potholes on the I-95 ramps between the Prince William C.L. and the Hanover C.L.  during the overnight hours. This is a mobile operation and motorists should expect delays in the work zone. 

Stafford County

·          Route 1

Sunday - Wednesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.; crews will be milling and paving at various locations on Rt. 1 south between Quantico and Rt. 630.  Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

§          Route 17 @ I-95

Monday - Wednesday, 8 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; motorists will be restricted to one lane on Rt. 17 north and south at the

I-95 interchange.  Crews are repairing the structural beams on the I-95 bridge over Rt. 17.  Expect brief delays.

Spotsylvania County

§          Interstate 95

Monday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews working along the shoulder on I-95 north and south at mile marker 123, located just south of Exit 126 (Rt. 1/Spotsylvania).  This work is in connection with the new Rt. 608 bridge over I-95.  All travel lanes will be open.

Monday - Wednesday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; crews will be installing weather stations on the I-95 bridge over the Rappahannock River just south of the Welcome Center. One lane will be closed on southbound I-95 in the work zone.

Monday - Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; motorists will be restricted to one lane on I-95 north at mile marker 123 located just south of Exit 126 (Rt. 1/Spotsylvania).  This is in connection with the ongoing construction on the new Route 608 Bridge over I-95.

·          Route 3

Sunday – Monday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.; 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.; crews will continue milling and paving on the westbound side of Route 3 from just west of I-95 to Bragg Road will continue this week.  Motorists should be alert to rough, uneven and/or unmarked pavement in this area.  Motorists traveling on Rt. 3 and exiting Central Park via Carl D. Silver Blvd. should be prepared to be periodically detoured around the work zone. Signs, flaggers and/or local law enforcement will direct motorists through and around the work zone. 

·          Route 17

Tuesday - Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m; crews will be milling and paving on Rt. 17 between Rt. 2 and Rt. 608.  Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

·          Spotsylvania Towne Centre Entrance

Motorists are reminded to be alert to the change in traffic patterns on Route 3 eastbound between Bragg Road and the entrance to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre.  The continuous right turn lane on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre entrance will be closed to through traffic.  The right merge lane exiting the towne centre to Rt. 3 east will also be closed.  Towne Centre patrons should use the entrance located on Bragg Road Extended.  Access to businesses located on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre will be maintained at all times.

·          Route 639 (Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue -Ongoing Construction Project

Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the shoulder along Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue.  This is in connection with the project to Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue from two to four lanes between Rt. 3 and the entrance to Central Park. The estimated completion date for this project is summer 2011.

·          Route 608 bridge over I-95 – Ongoing Construction Project

Construction continues on the Rt. 608 bridge over I-95.  Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment and changes in traffic patterns in this area.

King George County

·          Route 206

Sunday – Tuesday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m.; crews will be paving a 4 mile section of Rt. 206 at Rt. 3.  Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.

·          Route 3

Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; crews will be mowing on Rt. 3 between Rt. 301 and the Westmoreland C.L.  This is a mobile operation and motorists should be alert to slow moving equipment.

·          Route 218

Wednesday - Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; crews will be mowing on Rt. 218 between Rt. 205 and the Stafford C.L.  This is a mobile operation and motorists should be alert to slow moving equipment.
