Hot Spots for the Fredericksburg Region
October 18 – October 24, 2009
Sunday – Thursday, 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.; crews will be installing continuous traffic counters on I-95 south just south of just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville). Two lanes will be closed in the work zone.
Monday – Thursday, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; motorists should be alert to crews working on the shoulder of I-95 south just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville). Crews will be installing continuous traffic counters. No travel lanes will be closed.
I-95/Rt. 3 Ramp Closure
Monday, 5 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Crews will be milling and paving the ramp from I/95 South to Rt.3 east (Exit 130). Motorists should take Exit 133 towards Falmouth to Rte. 1 south to access Rte.3 east.
I-95 Ramp at Exit 140
Tuesday, 5 a.m. – 11 a.m.; the ramp from Rt. 630 to I-95 south will be closed. Crews will be milling and paving. Motorists should use the Centreport Pkwy. Interchange to access the interstate.
Tuesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 2:30; crews will be repairing the shoulder on southbound Rt. 1 from the Prince William C.L to the Fredericksburg C.L. This is a mobile operation and motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.; motorists will be restricted to two lanes on I-95 south just south of Exit 126 (Rt. 1/ Spotsylvania) while crews continue construction of the new Rt. 17 bridge over I-95. There will be no lane closures between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day.
Wednesday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; one lane will be closed to traffic on I-95 south just north of Exit 130 (Rt. 3/Fredericksburg). Crews will be installing weather stations at the I-95 bridge over the Rappahannock River just south of the Welcome Center.
Tuesday - Wednesday, 7:30 pm – 4 a.m.; crews will be installing rumble strips on the shoulder of I/95 south between Exit 126 (Rt. 1/Spotsylvania) and Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg). This is a mobile operation and motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
Route 639 (Bragg Road/Fall Hill Avenue) -Ongoing Construction Project
Motorists are reminded that all traffic has been shifted to the new lanes on Bragg Road between Route 3 and the entrance to Central Park. The Bragg Road entrance to Giant remains only open to right turns in and out. This is an active work zone and motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in this area.
Route 3/ Bragg Road Intersection
Wednesday 9 a.m. – noon; crews will remove the old signals and activate the new ones located on the mast arm structure at the Rt. 3/Bragg Road intersection. Traffic at the intersection will be stopped periodically during the transition. Virginia State Police will maintain traffic at the intersection.
Spotsylvania Towne Centre Entrance
Motorists are reminded to be alert to changes in the traffic pattern on Route 3 eastbound between Bragg Road and the entrance to the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. The continuous right turn lane on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre entrance may be periodically closed to through traffic as well as the right merge lane exiting the towne centre to Rt. 3 east. To avoid delays Towne Centre patrons should use the entrance located on Bragg Road Extended. Access to businesses located on Rt. 3 east between Bragg Road and the towne centre will be maintained at all times.

Route 1 bridge over Route 3 (William Street)
Motorists are reminded that one lane on both north and southbound Rt. 1 at the bridge over Rt. 3 is closed to traffic for bridge rehabilitation. The speed limit in the work zone is 25 miles per hour.

Motorists are reminded that one lane on Rt. 3 west at the Rt. 1 bridge over Rt. 3 is closed.
