NEW FERRY SERVICE HOURS SLATED TO BEGIN JULY 1
Merry Point Ferry and Sunny Bank Ferry service will be impacted
FREDERICKSBURG - At its June 18 meeting the Commonwealth Transportation Board approved the proposed service and program reductions as outlined in the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Blueprint for the future.
On July 1 VDOT will begin to implement the service changes which include a reduction in the service hours of operation on the Merry Point Ferry and Sunny Bank Ferry. The new hours of service are as follows:
Merry Point Ferry
Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sunny Bank Ferry
Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, 8 a.m. – noon.
There will be no ferry service during inclement weather.
The Merry Point Ferry is located in Lancaster County and crosses the Corrotoman River. The Sunnybank Ferry crosses the Little Wicomico River in Northumberland County.
