New Traffic Pattern on Rt. 17 at Gloucester Point slated to begin this week

FredericksburgOn Thursday, April 30, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will shift both north and southbound traffic on Rt. 17 at Gloucester Point to a new alignment to begin Phase 1 of the project.

VDOT recently completed upgrades to the existing southbound shoulder to provide motorists with a full width travel lane to use during the work to widen Rt. 17 between the Coleman Bridge and Farmwood Road (Route 1237).?>

After the traffic shift, motorists will continue to have use of two through travel lanes in each direction and the center turn lane.  This traffic pattern will remain place until Phase 1 of the project is complete in the spring of 2010.

For more information about this project visit www.virginiadot.org.

For current traffic and travel information, motorists can visit www.va511.com or call 511.
