FREDERICKSBURG – Beginning Monday, April 13, motorists crossing the Norris Bridge, located on Rt. 3 over the Rappahannock River, will be periodically restricted to one lane while crews erect the containment platform for the bridge painting project.   Lane closures will be in effect Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. through the end of April.  If additional lane closures are necessary, they will be scheduled between 7 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Atsalis Brothers Painting, Co. of Michigan, a contractor for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), anticipates that after the containment area is secure lane closures and delays on the bridge will be kept to a minimum.  

The $22.3 million structural steel painting project is the first of three projects to rehabilitate the bridge. This project will be complete by November 2012.
