FREDERICKSBURG – Beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 19, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Butler Road between Ray Grizzle Activity Center and the entrance to St. Clair Brooks Park in Stafford County.  Crews will be replacing a failed drainage pipe on Butler Road.

The entrance to the activity center and the park will be open to traffic.

The work is expected to complete by 12 noon on Sunday, June 21 and the road will be reopened to traffic. 

VDOT has designated the following detour around the work zone:

• From Route 1

Use Rt. 624 (Layhill Rd/Primmer House Rd.) make a right at Rt. 626 (Leeland Rd) then make right onto Rt. 607(Deacon Rd) and then make a right at Rte 218 (Butler Rd).

• From Route 17 south

Make a left onto Rt. 1 north to Rte 624 (Layhill Rd) make a right at Rt. 626 (Leeland Rd) then make right onto Rt. 607(Deacon Rd) and then make a right at Rte 218 (Butler Rd).

• To access Route 1

Use Rt. 218 (Butler Rd & White Oak Rd) to Rt. 607 (Deacon Rd).  Make a left onto

Rt. 626 (Leeland Rd) and make a left onto to Rt. 624 (Primmer House Rd) to Rt. 1.
