VDOT CREWS ARE WORKING TO PLOW SECONDARY ROUTES AND SUBDIVISION STREETS
Citizens are asked to be patient)
FREDERICSKSBURG — VDOT crews have started plowing operations on the area secondary routes and subdivision streets in the Fredericksburg area.
The weekend storm was felt hardest in the Fredericksburg area which includes Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George. Crews spent most of the weekend clearing the interstate, primary routes and major secondary routes and many of them still have patches of snow and ice.
During the overnight hours crews began working on the secondary routes and in subdivisions. Many of these routes are snow and ice packed and may require the use of a motor grader to break through the ice. VDOT will make every effort to make the road passable by pushing off as much snow as possible and applying abrasives to provide traction. Additional equipment has been dispatched to this area to assist with the snow removal efforts from the southern end of the district that was not hit as hard by the storm to assist with the snow removal efforts.
Crews are working as quickly as possible to provide a safe pathway out of the neighborhoods and citizens are requested to be patient.
VDOT is working closely with local emergency services personnel to coordinate emergency response efforts. If you have a medical emergency please call 911 and they will coordinate with VDOT if necessary.
