Icy conditions exists on main roads; Subdivision streets snow covered

FREDERICKSBURG—  5 a.m. Snow tapered off just after midnight in the Fredericksburg region allowing crews to make progress clearing the interstate and primary routes.  With temperatures remaining below freezing icy conditions may exist on the main road especially on bridges, overpasses and ramps. 

The following road conditions are reported in the Fredericksburg area:

  • Interstate, Primary, High volume secondary routes -  clear to minor
  • Low volume secondary and subdivision streets – minor to moderate

Crews will continue to treat the interstate and primary routes for slick spots and anticipate plowing  operations to begin in subdivisions later today. VDOT’s goal is to have all state maintained roads passable within 48 hours after the snow  stops.

Motorists are urged to delay travel until later this morning, if possible.  If  traveling be alert to icy conditions conditions especially at bridges, overpasses and ramps..
