UPDATE: NORTHBOUND I-95 REMAINS CLOSED IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Motorists are encouraged to take alternate routes, as I-95 is expected to be closed for several additional hours

FREDERICKSBURG—All lanes of northbound Interstate 95 remain closed at mile marker 103 in Caroline County at 9:20 a.m. for a vehicle crash involving a bus. Northbound I-95 is expected to remain closed for several additional hours this morning.

Currently, traffic congestion on northbound I-95 begins at mile marker 93, approximately 10 miles from the incident scene.

All lanes of southbound I-95 remain open, and no congestion is reported.

Northbound vehicles on I-95 are being detoured to Route 1 in Caroline at Exit 98 at Route 30/Doswell. Vehicles are being directed to re-enter northbound I-95 at Exit 104 at Carmel Church or Exit 110 at Ladysmith. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is working to change traffic signal timing on Route 207 in Caroline to assist with the detour.

Motorists can find real-time information about the incident and congestion on VDOT’s 24-hour travel information website, www.511Virginia.org. 511Virginia is also available by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
