ALL LANES OF I-95 NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND REMAIN CLOSED IN CAROLINE COUNTY
Traffic is being detoured to Route 1 while incident is cleared

FREDERICKSBURG— All northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 95 are closed near Exit 104 (Carmel Church) on Interstate 95 in Caroline County due to downed power lines.

Southbound traffic is being detoured from I-95 to Route 1 at Exit 110 (Ladysmith), and is being directed to re-enter the interstate at Exit 98 (Doswell).

Northbound traffic is being detoured from I-95 to Route 1 at Exit 98 (Doswell), and is being directed to re-enter the interstate at Exit 110 (Ladysmith).

Message boards have been activated along the I-95 corridor to alert motorists to the closure, the detour route, and potential delays.

A contractor vehicle in a paving work zone on southbound I-95 struck the power lines at mile marker 104.

When the power lines are cleared, asphalt is standing by to be placed into the southbound lanes that were milled overnight, restoring the travel surface.

Motorists can find real-time information about traffic incidents and congestion on VDOT’s 24-hour travel information website, www.511Virginia.org. 511Virginia is also available by calling 511 from any telephone in Virginia.
